What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Technician Intern position at Beaufort County South Carolina?
The Animal Services Technician Intern provides care to the animals at the Animal Shelter. Responsibilities include: cleaning kennels, cages, floors, and common areas; feeding, bathing, medicating, and socializing animals; assessing the general physical condition of incoming animals; assisting in determining an animal’s immediate needs; and evaluating animal behavior. Participate in learning activities and receive guidance under the direct supervision of the Animal Services Intern Supervisor to develop skills in animal care and shelter operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Observes animals to determine health, eating habits, and behavioral issues; assesses the general physical condition of incoming animals; and assists in determining the animal’s immediate needs.
- Performs animal care duties, which includes: feeding, and watering animals; monitoring animals for illness, disease, or injury; socializing animals; and performing other related activities. Observes the administration of medications and vaccines to animals.
- Cleans and disinfects animal holding areas; monitors the security of facilities.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of files, records, reports, logs, or other related information.
Must be currently enrolled in high school as a Junior or Senior. Must be at least 16 years of age.

Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.Salary : $15
