All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.

- Operates light duty vehicles and equipment, mobile radios, and small construction equipment including but not limited to chain saws, rakes, shovels, etc.
- Operates hand, power and specialty tools commonly used for plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general facility repairs and maintenance.
- Identifies and corrects building and equipment problems by performing carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and minor repairs to maintain parks, fields and facilities and equipment in safe condition, prevent degradation of properties and systems, and prevent failures that would cause reduction in service.
- Repairs, modifies, constructs, fabricates, installs and maintains structures and equipment to provide safe conditions for employees and patrons.
- Repairs water, gas, electric or air pipes and lines in or under floors, walkways and walls to repair leaks and breaks using cement materials and various hand, power or specialty tools.
- Plans and schedules corrective action and preventive maintenance to repair or modify defects and maintain operating condition of facilities and equipment.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
- Over one year and up to and including two years of building maintenance, repairs, construction or related experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
