What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiscal Technician I position at Beaufort County South Carolina?
The purpose of this position is to respond to medical records requests and subpoenas regarding billing, payments, insurance and other patient data. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Responds to requests and subpoenas for medical and billing records from the Solicitor's Office, Coroner's Office and attorneys.
- Follows-up on unpaid invoices for medical records.
- Frequently communicates with attorneys, paralegals and other officials.
- Reviews and follow up on patients’ hospital demographic face sheets and insurance.
- Interacts with the general public in providing information and assistance, assists EMS Staff as needed.
- Performs verification and reconciliation tasks for invoices, receipts and balances.
- Maintains, updates and reconciles various logs, ledgers, files, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Prepares weekly remittance reports.
- Prepares weekly remittance reports.
- Processes Refund requests for patients and insurance companies to Finance for payments.
- Completes End of Month reports to enter revenue to general ledger.
- EMS Lockbox monthly bank statement reconciliation as needed
- Performs Desktop Deposits as needed.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college.
- Over two years and up to and including four years of accounting, bookkeeping or related experience.
