What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning & Zoning Deputy Director position at Beaufort County South Carolina?
The purpose of this position is to develop and administer the Planning & Zoning Department. Provide professional guidance and recommendations of land use: land protection or development. This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Provides information to the general public regarding planning and development processes and procedures including environmental codes and policies.
- Administrates planning for the development of the Green Space Program.
- Coordinates and manages necessary acquisition due diligence.
- Conducts cost, benefit analysis for land purchases.
- Coordinates and works with attorneys, administration and Committee.
- Train staff in program application and development.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires Master of Science degree in planning, geography, landscape architecture, architecture, environmental studies, or related field.
- Over eight years and up to and including ten years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- American Institute of Certified Planners certification.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Salary : $90,220 - $117,267
