What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Lifeguard position at Beaufort County South Carolina?
The purpose of this position is to provide swimming and safety instruction to ensure the safety of patrons at a County’s public swimming facility. Employees are responsible for teaching various swimming activities as well as assisting with special functions. This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Conducts responsible protective service work ensuring the safe use of the swimming facility by patrons.
- Provides water rescue as needed and CPR or first aid treatment to injured or ill patrons.
- Observes actions of swimmers, and maintains discipline in and around pool facilities.
- Enforces pool and water safety rules in a tactful and effective manner.
- Teaches swimming, lifesaving, water exercise, and other water related instructional classes to all age groups.
- Assists in administering training sessions and ensures that teaching materials are picked up and put away after each session.
- Maintains swimming pool and surrounding area to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of recreational facilities.
- Assists with various special projects, community programs and recreational functions.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Does not require completion of high school.
- Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
- Must possess and maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
- Must possess and maintain current CPR Certification.
Salary : $20 - $26
