GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Caregiver for the Head Start and Early Head Start program provides essential support to education staff, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. The Caregiver will assist in various classroom functions, relieve staff during breaks and planning periods, and support teachers in delivering high-quality, developmentally appropriate education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Classroom Support
· Relieve education staff for breaks and planning periods, maintaining smooth classroom operations during transitions.
· Act as a third person in the classroom when needed to ensure appropriate supervision and support.
· Assist teachers and/or teacher assistants in executing daily lesson plans, promoting positive learning experiences.
· Aid in the preparation of materials and supplies needed for lesson plans and activities.

Administrative Assistance
· Support education staff in completing classroom-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
· Help maintain compliance with program and regulatory requirements by following documentation protocols.

Regulatory Compliance
· Adhere to all South Carolina Department of Social Services (SC DSS) childcare regulations.
· Follow agency-specific policies and procedures surrounding childcare along with Head Start Program Performance Standards
· Maintain confidentiality, Child Health and Safety regulations, and uphold professional standards and expectations in all interactions with children, families, and staff.
