What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Development Advocate position at Beaufort-Jasper EOC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Development Advocate provides families with comprehensive case management and family development services that promote the well-being of the family, to include family safety, health, and economic stability to promote their child’s overall growth and development. The Family Development Advocate establishes partnerships with families, acts as an advocate for families, and provides support services as needed
SERVICE DELIVERY:
1. Manage a caseload in a timely effective manner that maintains up to date data to include health, family services, ERSEA, donated resources and volunteers, in data base system and comprehensive child files.
2. Assesses and identifies family strengths and needs related to family engagement outcomes.
3. Assists families in developing goals and objectives and sets systems for tracking the accomplishment of their goals and objectives.
4. Establishes individual Family Development Plans to address identified needs and family strengths.
5. Monitors, evaluates, and modifies family development plans on a regularly scheduled basis.
6. Conducts home visits as necessary.
7. Serves as an advocate to link families to community resources and services that will assist in accomplishing identified family needs and/or goals established.
8. Work directly with families to assist in promoting children’s health and well-being to include parent education on the importance of medical, oral, nutrition and mental health care.
9. Plan and facilitate monthly parent meetings in partnership with parents.
10. Organize and conduct on-going parent workshops to include parenting curriculum.
11. Assist in providing support and a program overview to parents, Parent Committees, Policy Council, community resources, or visitors as assign.
12. Participates in facilitating the requirements and procedures for eligibility determination, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance.
13. Participates in recruitment and outreach.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Communicates directly with Family Service Manager regarding assigned tasks and cases to solicit input and direction regarding types of services needed and/or that are being provided.
2. Woks collaboratively with staff to provide a comprehensive, integrated services for families.
3. Maintains a professional attitude, working cooperatively with HS/EHS staff and parents: provides leadership and guidance in treating all children and their families with dignity and respect.
4. Work in classroom when staff shortage dictates.
5. Becomes familiar with Federal and Local regulations as they relate to this’s position and aspects of the program.
6. Attends local, state, and out of state training sessions, workshops, and conferences as applicable and/or assigned.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in social work or related field.
2. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Must be at least 18 years old.
4. Must possess a valid license and access to own automobile
