Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate After School Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide direct supervision to a group of children in an After-School program. Provide quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises a group of children.
2. Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant,
developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Attend staff meetings and required trainings including abuse risk management.
5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and
disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
6. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models’ relationship-
building skills in all interactions.
7. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
8. Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising
youth.
9. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
10. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Experience
- Experience working with students in an educational setting is essential.
- Experience in daycare or similar child-focused environments is a plus.
- First aid certification is beneficial but not mandatory.
- A passion for working with children and fostering their growth through various activities is essential.
