POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Interpreter will provide accurate interpretation and translation of medical visits to Spanish speaking patients on behalf of providers and the clinical care team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Precisely and accurately interprets information from the provider and clinical care team from English to Spanish
- Assists in translating medical text from English to Spanish on behalf of patients; may translate patient education information as specifically requested.
- Establishes and maintains quality service and positive interaction with all patients, customers, visitors, health care providers, and staff.
- Adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and to the National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care.
- Assists with patient follow-up as necessary, including contacting patients with appointment reminders.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality by organization policies and standards.
- Performs all other job-related duties as assigned or requested by the Manager or Director
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree is preferred
- Must be fluent in Spanish and English speaking and writing skills
- A minimum of 1 year Spanish interpreting experience required
- A minimum of 1 year electronic healthcare records experience preferred
- Written and Oral Medical Interpreter Certificate from an approved Interpreter/Translator is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite required
