Position Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound services for patients in accordance with Providers’ orders, prepares patient, room and equipment for general imaging. Operates ultrasound equipment specializing in patient care, imaging procedures, ultrasound testing, and quality assurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs ultrasounds in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by provider (MD/DO/NP/PA)
- Instructs patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimal results
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment
- Maintains ultrasound equipment in appropriate operating condition
- Maintains examination rooms and work areas
- Orders and stocks all ultrasound supplies
- Maintains accurate department records, reports and files as directed
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information
- Works as a team member within the Radiology department and all other departments
- Operates imaging equipment and reviews images to be sure they are of good quality and helpful for diagnosis
- Identifies normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the results to physicians or other health professionals, and alerting physicians to urgent problems
- Travels between clinic sites as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
- Current CPR certification
- Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office
- Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred
- Possesses a valid South Carolina driver’s license and clean driving record
