Description
This Patient Care Technician (PCT) position provides care for both adults and pediatric (neonates, pediatrics and adolescents) patients. The PCT will provide direct patient care in the clinical setting under the direct supervision and delegation of the nurse. The patient care technician performs assigned tasks in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
Position Requirements
Education :
High School graduate or equivalent preferred, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
Experience :
Previous experience preferred.
Certifications / Licenses :
Training as a Patient Care Technician which includes nursing assistant, phlebotomy and EKG training. Certification as a Certified Nurse assistant or Patient Care Technician is NOT required. Certification as Patient Care Technician; or certification as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EKG Tech & phlebotomist and / or documentation of training in all of these areas may be acceptable. Formal training as a Medical assistant or certification as a medical assistant may be acceptable in lieu of training as a patient care technician.
BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
