Description
The PCT will provide direct patient care in the clinical setting under the direct supervision and delegation of the nurse.
The patient care technician performs assigned tasks in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
Position Requirements
Education :
High School graduate or equivalent preferred, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
Experience :
Previous experience preferred.
Certifications / Licenses :
Training as a Patient Care Technician which includes nursing assistant, phlebotomy and EKG training. Certification as a Certified Nurse assistant or Patient Care Technician is NOT required.
Certification as Patient Care Technician; or certification as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EKG Tech & phlebotomist and / or documentation of training in all of these areas may be acceptable.
Formal training as a Medical assistant or certification as a medical assistant may be acceptable in lieu of training as a patient care technician.
- BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
