** You must already be a certified EMT Basic or in the final testing phase of your EMT training to be considered for this position.
Beauport Ambulance is seeking EMT's to work in our Boston and North Shore Divisions.
We offer a competitive pay scale that starts brand new EMT's at $25.00 per hour and goes up with experience, we also offer flexible schedules with built in overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently certified as an EMT by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current certification in CPR — Basic Life Support
- Current Motor Vehicle Driver’s license
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, Days, Evening, Overnights and Weekends
- Physical Requirements:
- The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds with assistance and without difficulty.
- The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty and the ability to lift and carry 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs with assistance and without difficulty.
- The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- The ability to walk one quarter of a mile without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers patient care as required by Massachusetts Statewide Treatment Protocols / company policies.
- Delivers quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care.
- Attend all mandated company training functions or submit proof of completing equivalent training to the clinical department in a timely fashion.
- Attend to all patients in a courteous, professional manner.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with EMS agencies, physicians, and other health care providers.
- Communicates with patient, patient’s family, others at the scene and at the hospital / facility in a courteous and professional manner always.
- Complete and assists in the completion of necessary patient care reports and other company paperwork in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Completes vehicle and equipment checklists every shift and maintains ambulances and other company vehicles and equipment in a clean and efficient working order, and ensures ambulance is appropriately stocked. This includes washing the vehicles at the end of each shift.
- Maintain all required certifications as an active EMS provider and supply the company with valid copies of all certifications and driver's license prior to their expiration dates.
- Must maintain a reliable attendance record and be punctual for shifts.
- Observes, records, and reports to physician, patient’s conditions, and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations: company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes.
- Perform daily housekeeping duties at all assigned bases of operations
- Properly loads, secures, and transports patients in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- Provide medical examination and screening of patients consistent with company Protocols.
- Uses safety and PPE equipment as required by law and company policies.
- Other duties as assigned
