Position Summary
The Compounder II is responsible for manufacturing product batches according to formula procedures. Compounders operate processing equipment and follow GMPs and procedures in all phases of work, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Manufactures all non-OTC product batches (i.e., reverse emulsion, scrubs, washes, etc.) according to formula procedures with limited supervision.
- Have a good knowledge of batch blending processes in order to recognize problems and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with training of new and temporary employees.
- Assist R&I with pilot batches or Commercialization with first productions.
- Must be able to read and understand SDSs and hazard communication labels to ensure proper GMP, PPE, and safety precautions are followed when handling raw materials.
- Perform basic in-process quality testing as required
- Properly operate processing and testing equipment for which they are trained.
- Recognize safety hazards and alert management accordingly.
- Follow all GMP and SOP guidelines in all phases of work.
- Keep work area clean and follow safety rules at all times.
- Complete batch record documents, housekeeping logs, and other documents pertaining to manufacturing as accurately as possible.
- Wash, sanitize, and set up all necessary manufacturing equipment used in manufacturing batches.
- Report decisions, problems, and questions to Compounding Supervisor or Compounding Manager.
- Maintain efficient Compounding operations by solving process problems and adjusting equipment, when necessary.
- Perform other related duties or projects as required.
Qualifications
Technical Skills Required
- General knowledge of computer systems.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages, metric units).
- Good recordkeeping skills (familiar with data entry and has legible hand writing).
- Understands written and verbal instructions, procedures, SOPs, and GMPs
- Ability to contribute to a productive and cooperative atmosphere, show commitment to team objectives, and handle day to day work challenges.
- Must be detailed oriented and result driven.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Mechanical aptitude preferred
Experience Required
- High school education or GED equivalent.
- Previous work in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years batch blending experience.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Stand/remain upright for periods of up to 4 hours at a time.
- Bend, squat, kneel, balance, turn, and stoop.
- Good eye/hand coordination.
- Able to climb ladders/stairs.
- Able to use GMP required garments and safety equipment as required by SOP's and GMP's.
