Maintenance Mechanic II
Position Summary
The Facilities Mechanic II is responsible for preventive and routine maintenance of facility equipment, compounding equipment, and facility maintenance including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and paint. This role is to troubleshoot issues, repair failures of compounding and facility equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Maintains and repairs facility and compounding equipment.
- Repairs, installs, and adjusts industrial machinery such as compounding vessels, pumps, grinders, mixers, air compressors, boilers, chillers, vacuum system, dust collection systems, and HVAC.
- Troubleshoots and repairs pneumatic switches, valves, and cylinders.
- Diagnoses and repairs gear boxes, motors, bearings, and conveyor system problems.
- Assists in the installation and set-up of new equipment to include electrical, air, and ventilation as needed.
- Repairs, replaces, and maintains drywall, flooring, ceiling tiles, leaks, plumbing, and other facility maintenance tasks as needed.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance.
- Responds to work order requests in a timely fashion.
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) (ensuring machinery is off before performing maintenance or repair), hot work, confined spaces work, use of powered industrial machines, etc.
- Trouble shoots electrical (relay logic PLCs), general building electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
Qualifications
Technical Skills Required
- Proficiency in industrial safety policies, risk reduction, OSHA and potential stored energy risks involved when working with equipment.
- Proficient mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and collaborate on building/system drawings.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and precision, as well as good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Proficient drywall, painting, plumbing and building maintenance skills.
- Proficient with welding and machine shop work.
- Proficient in the operation of industrial lift trucks and scissor/boom lifts.
- Electrical troubleshooting proficiency.
- Proficiency with industrial tools and equipment.
- Spanish is a plus but not required.
Experience Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience diagnostic/troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- 2 years of electrical experience in troubleshooting and programming of PLCs, knowledge of electrical controls, VFDs, servos, HMIs, and the ability to read electrical prints.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, squeeze, kneel, turn, crouch, and stoop repeatedly.
- Physically able to lift 75 pounds and manipulate up to a 500-pound drum on a regular basis.
- Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, airborne particles, electrical, chemicals, and moving parts.
- Prolonged use of computer screen.
