QC Analyst I
Position Summary
BMSCs QC Analytical Chemist I will be responsible for the successful analysis of raw materials, bulks and finished products to ensure that they meet the high-quality standards set by management and customers. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of analytical instruments including, but not limited to, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, and Mercury Analyzer. All analyses must follow applicable procedures, Good Lab Practices (GLP), and FDA regulations to ensure accurate and timely results are obtained. This position will support all Quality-related activities in the QC lab. Additionally, this position will work cross-functionally with R&I and Operations to ensure that specifications are being met. It will also support the spirit of continuous improvement and manufacturing excellence.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Maintain and support Quality Standards by ensuring SOPs, Work Instructions, and Methods are followed to meet and exceed the Quality Standards set forth in specifications and the requirements of 21 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 210 and 211.
- Perform in-process and final inspections, measurements, and analysis of bulk batches, finished goods, incoming bulks, and/or raw materials in compliance with cGMPs and all applicable regulations, standards and client requirements. These tests must be performed accurately, safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Operate all testing equipment correctly and within manufacturers expectations.
- Coordinate testing and sample submissions to third-party labs.
- Maintain proper labeling, handling, storage, use, and disposal of solutions, samples, and hazardous waste.
- Ensure that the team maintains highest levels of safety to build an environment where the teams well-being is a top priority.
- Verify that instruments such as balances and laboratory equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Technical Skills Required
- Proficiency with HPLC and ICP-MS preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with performing root cause analysis investigations (OOS Investigations) is preferred.
- Experience with ISO laboratory accreditation and FDA cosmetics regulations preferred.
- Must possess strong technical skills. Certification by ASQ or NRCC preferred.
- General knowledge of Good Lab Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
- Must be self-motivated and possess strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- High attention to detail.
- Great communication skills (oral and written).
- A basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and practices is required to ensure a safe working environment.
Experience Required
- BS/BA degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry required. Other science degrees can be considered in conjunction with applicable work experience.
- 1 years relevant industry experience in a GMP laboratory environment preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to climb stairs, stand for long periods of time, lift up to 40 pounds and have the ability to bend.
