Learning Center Tutor - Beaver Dam Middle School
29.5 Hours Per Week
$17.70-$18.78 per hour
This position primarily involves supervising and supporting students who are participating in individualized learning pathways, self-paced learning, virtual learning, or other alternative means to accessing education. This may be due to a variety of reasons including behavioral and social needs. The Tutor is responsible for providing general supervision, reporting attendance, tracking/supporting student progress, and ensuring an effective learning environment. The ability to forge relationships with students and staff, effectively resolve student conflicts, demonstrate flexibility and patience, being an effective and timely communicator and possessing 21st century technology skills are critical attributes of the position.
Applicants for the position should also possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
1. Two years post-high school experience and previous experience working with high school level students preferred.
2. Ability to work effectively with students that need alternative learning pathways.
3. Ability to supervise and manage student academic and behavioral needs by adhering to specific routines and communication procedures.
4. Possess excellent conflict resolution skills.
5. Ability to tutor and assist students individually with assignments.
6. Ability to use a variety of technology and computer systems to enter and track student data.
7. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff using written and oral communication techniques.
8. Ability to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
10. Ability to work as a productive member of the school community.
