Position Description:
The Beaverton School District is accepting applications for Deployable Contracted Substitute Teacher for the Human Resources department for the 2022-2023 School Year.
Teachers hired as Deployable Contracted Substitutes will work full-time daily on a 174 day temporary contract (prorated depending upon hire date), working each day with students who attend school in BSD.
If you are interested in a more traditional style substituting position where you choose the days and locations that you substitute, please apply to Licensed Substitute Teacher 2022-23.
Deployable Contracted Substitute teachers are placed strategically by Human Resources each day to alleviate substitute shortages at impacted schools. Placements will vary each day, and you must be ready and willing to teach in any assignment from PreK - 12, in general education and in special education settings.
This position does not allow for prearranging substitute jobs or taking long term substitute assignments. Deployable Contracted Substitutes will be paid at the premium rate of 5% over the daily rate for substitute teachers and are eligible for the substitute incentives for each time period. Pay will be evenly dispersed, from start date through August. The employee only is covered by Kaiser insurance. Dependents can be added at cost for premiums. The employee will earn one sick day per month eligible. One emergency day will be granted per year.
Necessary Qualifications:
Must qualify for and secure TSPC licensure to teach grades PreK-12 in Oregon. This position requires dependability, flexibility, the ability to think on one's feet, a student-centered approach to teaching, and a commitment to making a daily contribution to Beaverton School District's vision for excellence, innovation, collaboration, and equitable practices.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working in PreK-12 public education. Experience substituting in Beaverton School District classrooms. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
