Maintenance and Custodial Services Department
The Electrician I ensures a safe facility for students, staff and the public by performing essential repair, maintenance and installation of low voltage electrical systems, including but not limited to data communications systems, cable television systems, intercom systems, clocks and fire alarm systems.

Reports to : Maintenance Services Supervisor and Maintenance Services Field Supervisor
Indirectly reports to : Electrical Foreman
As an Electrician 1, you will be part of an elite team that performs skilled maintenance and repair work on various complex public safety systems throughout the Beaverton School District. These include but not limited to fire alarm, security camera, intrusion alarm, public address, and access control systems. This position may also occasionally work on various audio / visual systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ensure all District Public Safety Systems are operating properly.
- Perform maintenance and repair work on all systems related to public safety.
- Service and test all systems regularly to ensure systems are functioning as designed.
- Perform maintenance operations, scheduling, systems analysis and troubleshooting on district public safety systems.
- Install, maintain and service all public safety systems and their components.
- Operate various types of specialized tools and equipment, including analyzing and testing equipment, voltmeters, and ammeters and various other power and hand tools.
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair various audio / visual systems throughout the district.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess high school diploma or G.E.D. and have completed trade school or can demonstrate equivalent training.Must be able to pass a physical exam.Must be able to pass a criminal background check.Must possess a valid Oregon or Washington driver's license.Must have completed trade school or possess equivalent specialized training in the electrical trade and must be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the required tasks.Must possess LEA (Electrician, Limited Energy Technician License, Class A) or LME (Electrician, Limited Maintenance License.)Must have technical knowledge of testing and repair of fire alarms systems such as Simplex and Radionics.Must have electrical troubleshooting skills.Must be familiar with methods, materials, equipment, and tools of the electrical trade.Must be knowledgeable of building codes and maintenance and repair standards.Must be able to research products and service techniques online and create documents that support field service practices.Must be able to read, understand and follow multi-step written and verbal instructions in English.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong computer skillsExtensive experience in troubleshooting, analyzing, maintenance, and repair of all types of low voltage systems.Extensive experience in access control systems such as Lenel, INET 7, Genetec, AMAGCertifications on specialized systems such as Milestone and LenelNICET certificationSKILLS NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION
