Project Overview
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.
Job Summary
As a Senior Engineering Geologist, this position will be responsible for providing geological support to the project and executing specialized activities during the licensing and engineering phases. This position has technical responsibility for oversight of geological investigations, origination, and/or checking of geological calculations, preparation of licensing documents, preparation of reports, and preparation of design documents such as specifications, etc. You will be reporting to the Geology Lead on the project and coordinating with other technical specialists in the development of licensing and design documents. In addition, it will be required that the candidate have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and embrace Bechtel’s diversity & inclusion, leadership, quality, and safety values.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and prepare specifications, bid evaluations, and award recommendations for subsurface exploration and material subcontractors.
- Develop geotechnical/geological investigation plans and subsequently supervise field investigations.
- Conduct geological and geohazard mapping.
- Provide recommendations for geophysical surveys related to site investigation objectives.
- Review geotechnical subcontractor's reports and prepare comments and recommendations.
- Coordinate work between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, the client, suppliers, contractors, and other divisional groups.
- Review quantity estimates and staffing requirements for forecasts and change orders.
- Participate in and foster a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Requires master's degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or other related Geosciences discipline and 8-10 years of relevant work experience .
- Proficiency with geology software for aquifer test analyses and groundwater flow and transport models, including but not limited to AQTESOLV, MODFLOW, and MT3D.
- Proficiency in geological and geotechnical data management and visualization (e.g., Leapfrog, OpenGround, etc.).
- Professional Geologist (PG) license or equivalent.
- Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, computer graphics, and other appropriate computer applications to facilitate the compilation and analysis of data collection activities.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
- Willingness and ability to travel and remain at jobsite for an extended time.
- Curiosity, initiative, sound judgment, and knowledge of the fields of geology and engineering.
- Knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and of construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
- Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects.
- Ability to resolve technical issues with other geologists, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, regulatory agencies, and the client.
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
