As a Financial Assurance Specialist at BPMI, you will be responsible for planning and conducting external supplier audits in support of BPMI contractual procurements. You will be working with BPMI Procurement and Engineering teams to perform a variety of audits. You may also be asked to participate on teams in continuous improvement initiatives and in resolution of complex financial and accounting issues and provide guidance and expertise on financial functions and complex accounting and financial controls across the company, as needed. You must be willing to travel domestically 25% to 50% of the time based on business needs.

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. BPMI provides design, manufacturing, and supply chain management of the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of nuclear power plant components installed in submarines and aircraft carriers. In addition, BPMI provides upgraded replacement components in support of refueling and overhaul activities, and aids in the ultimate storage and disposition of spent naval fuel. BPMI also delivers information technology and operational solutions to the Nuclear Navy, enabling them to fulfill their critical mission.

Essential Duties:
- Complete and issue reports to enable management and other internal stakeholders to interpret, evaluate, and implement recommended supplier financial improvements. Support through providing accounting or financial advice, as needed.
- Perform, coordinate, and utilize financial analyses and/or cost accounting procedures during supplier external audits to identify problems and/or areas of improvement within BPMI’s industrial base.
- Formulate and implement recommended actions to internal stakeholders.
- With reasonable management oversight, lead the preparation of responses to requests from internal customers, Government personnel, and auditors requiring cross-functional inputs, multiple stakeholder reviews and concurrences, and multiple interfacing with the recipients to ensure expectations are met.
- Learn and maintain knowledge with Bechtel, Department of Energy, and Department of Defense rules, regulations, and presentation requirements for accounting, financial planning and contract planning functions (include detailed knowledge of DOE Orders, FAR, DFAR, GAAP, CAS - as applicable to assigned responsibilities).
- Use knowledge and expertise to deliver training curriculum and training materials for use in training of all internal and external customers. Participate in the exchange of information and knowledge with others in the company to gain understanding from a broad business perspective. Ensure knowledge and expertise is documented. Contribute to the development of fellow employees by sharing knowledge across financial and business functional areas.
- Engage with other Departments to enhance company-wide processes ensuring that resulting policies or procedures are aligned with financial and business processes.
- Author, with reasonable management input, formal written recommendations for Government approval of proposed process changes, resolution to financial issues, or alternative funding rationales.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
- Previous experience working in external audits, cost accounting or public accounts preferred.
