Overview
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking an experienced data scientist for its Monroeville, PA location, which is located just a few miles from Pittsburgh.
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. BPMI provides design, manufacturing, and supply chain management of the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of nuclear power plant components installed in submarines and aircraft carriers. In addition, BPMI provides upgraded replacement components in support of refueling and overhaul activities, and aids in the ultimate storage and disposition of spent naval fuel. BPMI also delivers information technology and operational solutions to the Nuclear Navy, enabling them to fulfill their critical mission.
Responsibilities
• This position is responsible for the structuring and analysis of existing and future data for both technical (analyzing everything from system development concepts through the end-of-life system support) and business (business and logistics data analysis) data sets.
• Specific job responsibilities include interfacing with data owners to scope problems and consult on solutions; working with data engineers to build out data infrastructure; helping grow a culture focused on data analytics; staying current on data science trends and techniques; extensive communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
• B.S. or M.S. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in data science.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred for newer college graduates. • Must be a U.S. citizen due to government security clearance requirements. In order to work at BPMI, applicants must complete a Federal background investigation and be granted a security clearance. • Experience with data storage (SQL) and analysis tools (Python, R).• Experience working with data warehouses.• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server tools and Power BI.• Demonstrated understanding of math and statistics.• Experience working with data owners and users to understand the needs of varied stakeholders.• A proven track record of effective written and verbal communication skills is preferred.• Self-starter with creative problem-solving capabilities is also preferred.• R, Data Lake, and Databricks familiarity are a plus.
