Job Summary
As an Experienced Resident Engineer at BPMI, you will work at a BPMI supplier production facility to confirm compliance to contract requirements, resolve manufacturing issues, and perform independent assessment of the supplier's ability to meet needs. Strong technical skills, interpersonal skills, and collaboration with other BPMI stakeholders and supplier personnel are required to be successful. This BPMI Resident Engineer position provides in-shop quality and manufacturing oversight at our largest manufacturing supplier.
Periodic (~5-10%) travel is expected. Since the supplier production facilities typically operate on a 24/7 schedule, the Resident Engineer position offers some work schedule flexibility. Personal safety emphasis in a shop environment is a must.

Essential Duties:
- Lead quality and compliance oversight responsibilities for component(s) assigned.
- Review contract specifications for proper application of requirements.
- Perform auditing, over-inspection, and cause and corrective action reviews.
- Support BPMI engineering activities such as input to supplier technical submittals, risk mitigation initiatives, process improvements, and problem resolution.
- Measure manufacturing progress against contract milestones and schedules, assess reasons for delays, and work with the supplier and other BPMI personnel to recover the established schedule.
- Team with supplier to perform assessments at critical subtier suppliers to identify issues, monitor progress, and assess capability.
- Independent assessment of vendor performance metrics. Identify cost and span reduction opportunities.
- Document and communicate key oversight activities with stakeholders.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of one year of experience.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
