Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to gather design requirements for new construction, renovations, or alterations.
- Lead programming efforts such as space planning, layout, adjacencies and improving client space utilization.
- Develop practical, innovative, and aesthetic design concepts that meet safety standards and client objectives.
- Oversee selection and specification of interior architectural materials, finishes, furniture, artwork, equipment, lighting and related elements as required by each project’s unique scope.
- Integrate sustainable design practices into project planning and execution.
- Coordinate and oversee the preparation of design drawings, ensuring adherence to firm design standards and industry best practices. .
- Manage all project phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction phase.
- Lead team meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams (i.e. architects, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers) to refine and execute design options.
- Ensure project deliverables adhere to best practices, quality standards, schedule and budget constraints.
- Monitor project progress, address issues promptly, and communicate updates to clients and stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants throughout project duration.
Qualifications/Skills
- Strong project management and leadership skills with the ability to oversee multiple commercial design and construction projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with integrating aesthetics and functionality within building mechanics.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative abilities, with experience managing diverse teams.
- Knowledgeable in Bluebeam, with the ability to interpret design drawings and communicate design changes with staff.
- Knowledgeable in Revit, with the ability to modify drawings and schedules.
- Knowledgeable in construction management software (Newforma, Procore, BuildingBlok or similar)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.). Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design, or a related field combined with experience in commercial interior design is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in interior design.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management.
