The Civil Engineer Professional performs routine aspects of civil engineering assignments; subsequently providing familiarity with the programs, staff, and operating procedures of the company. This role is responsible for supporting the Civil Engineer and their duties associated with planning, design, construction, and maintenance of building structures and surrounding infrastructure. The Civil Engineer Professional will be integrated with Design and Quality Assurance teams and various professionals in a team environment to meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities :
Analyzes surveys, plats, easements, reports, drawings, maps, prints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects and assist teams.
Reviews materials-testing data.
Computes load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
Discusses requirements with consultants and other professionals
Works with other engineers, contractors and architects.
Draws plans using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
Judges whether projects are workable by assessing materials, costs, and time requirements.
Assesses the environmental impact and risks connected to projects.
Prepares reports for public agencies and planning bodies.
Manages, directs, and monitors progress during engineering phases of a project.
Ensures that sites meet legal guidelines and health and safety requirements.
Provides technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs.
Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned
Education :
Bachelor of Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, preferred
Experience : (Minimum experience the job requires)
3-5 years’ experience preferably in engineering industry
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.
Proficiency in Workday and Project Management Information Systems (as applicable)
Ability to communicate well with the general public and experience in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, vendors, and co-workers
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to review drawings supplied by contractors, and engineers then recommends necessary changes
Ability to research code issues and works with City, State, and County officials
Ability to research design options and documents findings for Design Professionals and Segment Leaders
Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate decisions while motivating assigned staff
Ability to work in a team environment
Working knowledge of employment laws relating to employee relations and personnel administration
Ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly
Ability to analyze large amounts of complex data and assess solutions
Ability to work within budgets and to deadlines
Knowledge of relevant legal, health, and safety matters
Excellent problem solving skills with precision and an eye for detail

Professional Certification : (Certificate requirement appropriate to position)
Professional Engineer or
Engineer in Training (EIT) with the ability to take and pass PE exam within 6 to 12 months
Working Conditions / Travel Requirements :
Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational / business needs
Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
Some travel, both locally and long distances, (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations may be necessary.
