Position Overview

The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing all commercial activities including sales, procurement, pricing, contract management, market analysis, and customer relations in the Charleston market and surrounding areas. The role involves driving profitability and business growth through strategic planning, pricing strategies, cost management, and effective partnerships. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills to interact with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify business opportunities.
  • Drive product sales and market share expansion within the Charleston market.
  • Ensure the company meets revenue and profit targets through strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the development of pricing strategies to ensure competitive pricing while achieving profitability.
  • Manage customer contracts, ensuring terms and conditions are aligned with company objectives and profitability targets.
  • Negotiate and manage large contracts, ensuring the best terms and conditions for both the customer and the company.
  • Develop and manage commercial budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Evaluate and recommend financial strategies to optimize cost efficiencies and improve margins.

Procurement & Supply Chain :

  • Oversee procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services.
  • Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure smooth operations and delivery schedules.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and supply chain improvement.
  • Market Analysis & Reporting :

  • Conduct regular market analysis to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.
  • Generate reports and provide recommendations to senior management based on market insights and performance data.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting of sales and demand planning.
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related fields (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a commercial or business management role within the cement or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of cement industry trends, pricing strategies, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage budgets, pricing, contracts, and financial performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and commercial software tools (ERP systems, CRM, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings and site visits.
