RN Nursing Supervisor Job Description
At CommuniCare, we are seeking a skilled RN Nursing Supervisor to join our team. This role will work night shifts and is responsible for supervising nursing staff, providing personal care to residents, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
Purpose and Belief Statement
The RN Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for delegating tasks, supervising, and providing personal nursing care to residents. They must function as a team member, leader, and supervisor to ensure that work is accomplished and quality care is delivered. The position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and a commitment to providing exceptional care.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain sufficient nursing staffing levels to ensure quality resident care.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new employees and participate in their ongoing development.
- Develop and communicate shift assignments for nursing staff and monitor job performance to ensure adherence to established standards.
- Assist with scheduling as needed and communicate with ancillary departments and nursing staff during shift changes.
- Ensure that all nursing staff follow established departmental policies and procedures.
- Keep the Director of Nursing and Unit Managers informed of staff, resident, family, and/or center concerns/needs and assist with solutions as required.
- Review reports from other shifts and ensure follow-up on resident care and related matters.
- Assist in performance evaluations of nursing staff and maintain accurate records.
- Investigate resident/family complaints and incidents and maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial aspects of nursing operations.
- Provide professional nursing care to residents and participate in the development of written care plans and assessments.
- Maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents and ensure that their needs are met.
- Perform other related activities as assigned or requested.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Must possess a current license as an RN in the state where the center is located.
- Must have a minimum of a Nursing degree from an accredited college or university and be a graduate of an approved RN Program.
- Must have previous long-term care experience and previous supervisory/management experience is required.
