This position is part of the Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Business Unit located at our Immunoassay Center of Excellence in Chaska, Minnesota and is intended to be onsite. However, qualified candidates not located near Chaska will be considered and the role may be filled as a remote role.. You will be a part of the Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Product and Program Management leadership team and report to the Vice President, Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Innovation, Product & Program Management responsible for strategic leadership of Beckman Coulter’s most important growth opportunities, maximizing core business and adjacent market growth through innovation, partnerships, and lifecycle management. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Lead portfolio strategy development and the annual Strategic Innovation Review (SIR) process to build cohesive rationalized product roadmaps
Conduct adjacent market assessments, complex analyses and early technology assessments to support decision making around organic and inorganic options (e.g. M&A, OI).
Lead negotiations & contract/ term sheet structuring with potential and current partners with direct tie to business and financial success
Lead new and novel biomarker scouting initiatives inclusive of the pre-IDP tollgate evaluation process in partnership with Product Management, R&D, Scientific and Medical Affair, Global Market Access and Legal for Intellectual Property
Partner with CCIA Business Unit leadership to cultivate open innovation opportunities and manage the funnel to advance execution of technology roadmaps
Partner with Legal to identify opportunities for creating Intellectual Property (IP Thicket) and opportunities of in and out-licensing
Partner with Danaher Business Development to identify and assess M&A opportunities.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Successful candidates will have 20+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering and/or medicine OR 18+ years of experience with a Master's degree in biological sciences, engineering and/or medicine; Ph.D. and/or M.D. preferred .
Proven track record of success in leading strategy development; sourcing, negotiating & executing on high-impact partnerships within the Diagnostics industry or a related field (e.g., Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Life Sciences) and a deep knowledge of the healthcare industry including how innovative healthcare technologies get to market, and what drives their success.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a strong track record of translating market insights into actionable strategies and product roadmaps amidst uncertainty and balancing technology, customer need, and market value in product decision-making.
Collaborative leadership style, with a strong track record of driving results with buy-in within matrixed organizations.
Experience building & coaching high performing teams and effectively managing change and experience in a continuous improvement environment (i.e. LEAN or Six Sigma), as this experience would support acclimation into our Danaher Business System.
Extensive experience in effectively communicating complex technical information to diverse audiences and championing innovation cross-functionally.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Immunoassay & Clinical Chemistry Diagnostics product management and/or product development (5+ years), with a strong understanding of the IVD product development lifecycle.
Partnering with external organizations (e.g., industry partners, Academic Medical Centers, government) to deliver new product innovation and incremental revenue.
Precision medicine and/or companion diagnostics; Neurodegenerative, Infectious, & Cardiac disease
Salary : $215,000 - $260,000
