Key Objective:
This position plays a critical role in the cabinet-making process as an extremely high-quality sanding finish aids in custom finishes being applied accurately. In this role, you will sand wood products, including, but not limited to, cabinets, cabinet doors, drawers, and moldings with a DA orbital sander or by hand prior to pre-finishing. You will be successful in this position if you are driven, have a passion for performing quality work, and have an eye for detail. No experience required!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sand products in a first-in, first-out flow.
- Test seams for fit to ensure they are not too loose.
- Prepare parts to be sanded by filling seams with wax or glue, removing any excess as needed
- Sand surfaces, edges, and profiles using pneumatic hand sanders, sandpaper, and sanding blocks
- Feel surfaces for smoothness and defects before sending to paint
- Work with co-workers, supervisors, and continuous improvement staff to communicate ideas that may eliminate the cost and/or create efficiencies
- Down-stock to keep paint and sanding areas clear, and full racks to help set painter pace as needed.
- Assess workload with the allotted time to ensure the product will be completed on time.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB TYPE: Full-time
HOURS:
1st Shift: Mon-Thurs 6:00 am to 4:30 pm (10 hour shifts)
