Becoming You Media, led by Professor Suzy Welch (NYU Stern), is on a mission to guide people through the profound, exhilarating, and sometimes surprising journey to their authentic purpose. Through our digital ecosystem—including interactive coaching experiences, courses, digital products, and email-based learning programs—we help individuals and organizations navigate values, aptitudes, and interests to craft the life they truly want.
As we scale, we need a Head of Data to help us turn data into actionable insights, drive strategy across all teams, and develop scalable, cost-effective systems to fuel our rapid growth.
This is Becoming You Media’s first data hire and a pivotal opportunity for an experienced data professional with 5 years of relevant experience in analytics, data strategy, and behavioral insights. You won’t just be crunching numbers—you’ll be shaping the foundation of how data fuels our business, products, and audience insights.
Your work will be threefold:
- Product Analytics – Understanding user behavior across our digital products (CTC, The Values Bridge, and PIE 360) to optimize engagement and retention.
- Analyzing User Responses – Diving deep into our self-discovery assessments to uncover patterns in values, aptitudes, and interests across demographics.
- Questionnaire & Psychometric Analysis – Applying techniques like factor analysis to improve our tools, validate constructs, and enhance the scientific rigor of our methodologies.
This isn’t just a technical role—it’s a strategic, storytelling, and research-driven role. You’ll build, analyze, and leverage data to inform decisions across marketing, product development, content strategy, and customer engagement.
- Develop user engagement dashboards to track retention, completion rates, and interaction patterns across CTC, The Values Bridge, and PIE 360.
- Identify insights to optimize user experience and drive product growth.
- Support A/B testing for new features and behavioral nudges.
- Analyze self-discovery assessments to uncover insights about values, career trends, and life choices across different demographics.
- Present clear, compelling, and shareable insights to marketing, product, and content teams.
- Identify external data sources to enrich our understanding of values, aptitudes and interests across ages, incomes, industries, and geographies.
- Conduct factor analysis to refine and validate our assessments.
- Work with us to improve the scientific rigor of our self-discovery frameworks.
- Ensure our questionnaires are capturing accurate, meaningful, and predictive results.
- Build lightweight but scalable and cost-effective data systems that integrate user data across multiple touchpoints (courses, coaching, digital products, marketing).
- Automate data collection, reporting, and visualization using tools like Zapier, Google Sheets, SQL, Tableau, and Python.
- Optimize data storage, processing, and retrieval for low cost and high efficiency.
- Turn raw numbers into clear, compelling, and shareable insights for marketing, product, and leadership.
- Build real-time dashboards and reports to track user engagement and business performance.
- Present findings in a visually engaging way to help drive marketing campaigns, product development, and media strategy.
- Strategic & Hands-On – You can architect a data strategy but also build and execute it yourself.
- A Data Storyteller – You don’t just generate reports; you turn data into compelling narratives that drive action.
- Scrappy Yet Scalable – You know how to balance fast, low-cost solutions with long-term scalability.
- Comfortable with Data Tools – Experience with SQL, Python, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Google Sheets, Google Analytics, or Zapier.
- Excited by Behavioral Insights – You love digging into what makes people tick and how values, aptitudes, and interests shape decision-making.
- Comfortable with Psychometric Data – You have experience (or strong interest) in survey analysis, factor analysis, and psychometrics.
- 5 years of experience in data analytics, data strategy, or a related field.
- Previous experience in self-discovery, ed-tech, media, or assessment-driven products.
- Worked as a first data hire or built the foundational data systems at an early-stage company.
- Knowledge of machine learning for behavioral modeling or predictive analytics.
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation.
