Job Summary
The position of Metrology Technician reports to the Senior Manager of Global Calibration Services (GCS) and works closely with GCS staff to provide calibration support for all manufacturing sites globally as well as providing local support to our Grand Island facility. The Metrology Technician will work in the new Global Calibration Lab on-site at BD in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Job Summary
The position of Metrology Technician reports to the Senior Manager of Global Calibration Services (GCS) and works closely with GCS staff to provide calibration support for all manufacturing sites globally as well as providing local support to our Grand Island facility. The Metrology Technician will work in the new Global Calibration Lab on-site at BD in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Responsibilities
- Assist in establishing and maintaining calibration processes including equipment selection, equipment placement, workflow development, process documentation, training, and technical support.
- Assist in developing and implementing effective corrective action plans when nonconformances occur.
- Provide technical expertise to resolve complex metrology issues and assist other departments/sites as needed.
- Maintain laboratory information systems (LIMS), calibration databases, and document management systems.
- Develop and perform measurement system analysis (MSA).
- Train employees on proper use of test equipment and how to apply metrology principles.
- Create URS and IRA documents for new instrumentation requests.
- Support department goals by performing additional assignments not directly related to the job description.
- Perform routine maintenance on lab instruments and equipment such as cleaning, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Experience working in a regulated industry preferred.
- Knowledgeable in the principles of metrology.
- Familiarity with ASTM E2500 standards.
- Proficient computer skills are essential.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs./18 kgs.
- Available for occasional travel.
