We do this by providing programs and services which improve the economic vitality of the Bedford area by enhancing the business community through advocacy, education, exposure, and networking.
Job Description: We are seeking a motivated Membership Sales Representative to join our team at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and selling chamber memberships to businesses in Bedford County, Virginia and surrounding localities. This position is commission-only, offering unlimited earning potential based on your sales performance.
Responsibilities:
- Prospect and acquire new members for the Chamber through various sales techniques, including cold calling, networking and referrals.
- Conduct effective sales presentations to potential members, highlighting the benefits and value of Chamber membership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential members to foster long-term partnerships.
- Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals as established by the President/CEO.
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure high member satisfaction and retention rates.
- Stay informed about Chamber programs, events and initiatives to effectively communicate their value to prospective members.
- Track and report membership data – including, but not limited to:
- Accurate membership records
- Recruitment and retention reports
- Current, new and prospective member information
- Report to President/CEO on a weekly basis the past week's progress/success
Requirements:
- Proven track record in sales, preferably in membership sales, advertising or a related field.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others.
- Self-motivated and goal oriented, with a strong drive to succeed in a commission-based environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
- Knowledge of the Central Virginia business community and key industries is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field (preferred).
