JOB SUMMARY

Provide administrative support for Assessment and Tax Claim offices. Under the general direction of the Director and Assistant Director Clerk performs highly responsible financial and administrative tasks with accuracy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Illustrative only)

· Process incoming tax payments for multiple Bedford County municipalities

· Process daily deposits for multiple Bedford County municipalities

· Daily reconciliations of accounts

· Update and print monthly account receivable reports for reconciliation

· Enter incoming permits to ensure proper processing by Field Assessors

· Enter data collected by Field Assessors

· Answer emails

· Process and email property cards and tax information

· Enter monthly data changes and information

· Assist Tax Claim office with payments, calls, questions and reconciliation of accounts

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Education and/or Experience – Associate’s degree in business/finance, or equivalent of experience and training.

· Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents.

· Computer Skills – Software applications experience required. Additionally, prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat software.

· Confidentiality – Must keep all information confidential.

· Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; ability to understand oral and written directions.

· Must have good organizational skills

· Capability of speaking professionally and politely

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers; feel, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is mostly working in an office environment.
