Description:
Assist in maintaining an effective Counseling Services Office. Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal skills who is able to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community.
Responsibilities:
Perform and assume general clerical/secretarial tasks independently, including preparation of correspondence, reports, requisitions, handbooks, directories, school improvement plans and calendars
Direct incoming calls to appropriate personnel, taking accurate phone messages
Prepare and maintain deposits and accounts as necessary
Assist Director in budget development and maintaining budget expenditures
Receive and distribute mail to proper locations
Maintain confidentiality of information
Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct according to District Policy
Represent school system to the community in a positive and professional way
Maintain calendar and appointment schedule for Director
Assist professional staff with field trip preparation
Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward visitors, parents, faculty and staff
Maintain student attendance database, keeping data current and within DOE guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director

Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette
Specialty Areas:
Skilled in Google Docs, Word, and Excel
Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) preferred
Ability to interact at all levels of the school environment
Willingness to work in a fast paced environment
Ability to keyboard
Experience using current spreadsheet and word processing software
Experience using database software and/or student management software
Physical and Environmental Demands of the Job:
The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
Regular interruptions to assist staff members.
May spend extended periods of time at terminal, on telephone or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
Some travel by personal automobile.
Qualification:
High School Degree
Secretarial/Business School degree preferred or 5 years experience in an office setting
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I)
Successful Completion of national background check (fingerprinting)
