The Town of Bedford is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Pool Director age 21 with previous pool experience as a lifeguard required.

Pool facilities are located at each hamlet park, Bedford Hills Memorial Park, Bedford Village Memorial Park, and Katonah Memorial Park. Position Overview:
As the Assistant Pool Director, you will serve as the assistant manager of our entire pool facility. This full-time seasonal position requires strong leadership skills and a passion for ensuring the smooth operation of all pool-related activities. From overseeing daily operations to managing staff and handling member inquiries, the Assistant Pool Director plays a pivotal role in maintaining a positive and welcoming environment for all patrons.
Responsibilities of the Pool Director include:
- Set up of facility prior to opening day/break-down of facility at end of season
- Opening/closing procedures
- Assisting the director in scheduling, training, and supervising staff
- Ensure pool is adequately staffed each day and guards/gate attendants are aware of their responsibilities and their work schedules.
- Implementing the camp swim lesson/public swim lesson program
- Maintaining proper chemical balance in pools
- Maintaining a safe and clean facility
- Handling patron inquiries
- Assisting the director in conducting In-Service Training; Staff orientation; staff evaluations
- Properly account for daily fees and ensures it gets to the Recreation Office on a daily basis
- Keeping accurate records
Preferred Qualifications of Pool Director:
- Must be available to work from May 24th - September 1st plus pre-season meetings.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must have current Lifeguard/CPR certifications.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a pool or aquatic facility.
- Must be familiar with NYS Sanitary Code sub-part 6-1 for swimming pools
- Must have working knowledge of pool chemistry; pool management and daily operations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
- Strong supervisory skills and public relations skills.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to patrons.
