What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard (Seasonal) position at Bedford Recreation & Parks?
The Town of Bedford Recreation and Parks Department is seeking a dedicated pool lifeguards ages 15 & up for all three Bedford Pool Facilities. Our pool facilities are located at each hamlet park, Bedford Hills Memorial Park, Bedford Village Memorial Park, and Katonah Memorial Park.
If you are interested in becoming a Lifeguard with the Town of Bedford but do not have a current certification, we will be offering Lifeguard/CPR courses in May. Dates will be posted in our Spring Brochure - you can find the brochure on our website. It is encouraged you fill out an application and apply if you are scheduled to take the course.

Position overview:
The lifeguard's main responsibility is to ensure the safety of all patrons and guests at the pool facility. Seasonal positions available lifeguards all all 3 hamlet pools. The pool facilities are open Memorial Day thru Labor Day.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates must be minimum 15 years old with current certification in Lifeguard Training/1st Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED.
- Must be mature, responsible, committed, flexible, and have reliable transportation.
- Able to communicate effectively & work as a team.
- Able to exercise mature judgment and to respond and react properly in an emergency situation.
- Have a positive attitude, be punctual and committed.
- Dedicated to the Town of Bedford, management and the policies and procedures set forth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and health of pool patrons.
- Arrive for work prior to scheduled time so you can get settled and on time.
- Follow the directions of the Pool Director/Asst. Director/Head Lifeguard.
- Help prepare the facility for operation at all times, including assist in cleaning the facility.
