Bedford Recreation and Parks is seeking Swim & Dive Coaches for our town pools.
About Us:
The Town of Bedford is situated in northern Westchester County and encompasses the hamlets of Bedford, Bedford Hills and Katonah. Pool facilities are located at each hamlet park, Bedford Hills Memorial Park, Bedford Village Memorial Park, and Katonah Memorial Park. Our pool facilities are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for our members and guests.
Each pool offers a fun, but competitive swim and dive team that children ages 6-18 can join! Competing in the Northern Westchester Swim Conference, the swim and dive teams offer a great opportunity for young swimmers to develop their skills and swim in the summer with their peers.
Currently hiring for:
Head Swim Coach at Bedford Village Pool
Assistant Swim Coach at Bedford Village Pool
Assistant Dive Coach at Katonah Pool
Responsibilities for Swim & Dive Coaches include:
- Plans and organizes practices, including submitting attendance records
- Has a good working knowledge of swimmers abilities
- Works on stroke technique, speed work, starts, turns and race strategies
- Maintains a fun, nurturing and competitive culture
- Has full knowledge of all NWSC/NYSPHSAA rules and regulations
- Attends the mandatory coaches NWSC meeting in June, July and August.
- Creates meet line-ups in accordance with the Northern Westchester Swim Conference rules and regulations
- Attend all meets
- Works directly with the Head Diving Coach
- Supervise the assistant coaches
- Works closely and communicates effectively with the designated Parent Reps
- Works closely and communicates effectively with the Town of Bedford Administration
- Responds in a timely manner to parents’ and swimmers’ questions/emails
- Keeps accurate attendance records
Preferred Qualifications for Swim & Dive coaches:
- Current Lifeguard/FA/CPR/AED Certification
- Age 17 & up with at least 4 years of competitive swim or dive experience on a summer team, USA Swimming/Diving Club team or high school team
- At least 2 years working with, coaching, teaching or monitoring youth at the age-group swimming/diving level
- Applicants must be welcoming, dependable, well-organized, able to communicate effectively and possess the ability to tailor workouts specific to all age groups and all skill levels.

Hours: Evening Practices and attend meets. Meets are late afternoons and Saturday and/or Sunday mornings
