The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. In addition to operating the Health Centers, we operate in School-Based Health Centers to increase the accessibility and availability of quality primary and preventive physical and mental health care to pre-school, elementary, middle and secondary school students in high-risk areas of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Responsible for accomplishing general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings and provide support to facilities maintenance trade, in compliance with government and management directives.

We are seeking a Maintenance Work/Handyman/Driver to join our team. Position requires substantial experience and verifiable work history at preforming similar duties in fast-paced work environment at a prior job. Responsible for accomplishing general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings and provide support to facilities maintenance trade, in compliance with government and management directives.
Duties And Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
Maintenance
- General maintenance and repairs to ensure the facilities and equipment in the building are in good working order.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, electrical and HVAC work.
- Painting, changing locks, sheet rocking and plastering, repairing cabinets, tiling.
- Cleaning, trash removal and snow removal.
- Investigate possible problems and manage solutions accordingly.
- Assist with building wide projects.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on a regular basis.
- Performs regular inspections of the building throughout the day
- Ensure proper handling of infectious and noninfectious waste
- Prepare and set up conference rooms for all meetings
- Perform Security Duties as needed
- Receive and distribute deliveries to its proper designationWorking in this capacity at various BSFHC site when needed
- Ensure center sidewalks and entrances are kept free of ice and snow during the Winter and free of debris at all times. Grass/Scrubs cutting.
- The Driver is responsible for safely operating a transit motor vehicle and transport passengers.
- Remain up to date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses and all licenses.
- Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner at all times when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors and or the public.
- Keep the van clean and stocked and in good running order throughout the shift.
- Be in communication with supervisor on regular basis
- Respond promptly to assignments as required.
- High School Diploma/GED. or extensive experience as handyman
- Active and Clean NYS DRIVER'S LICENSE with less than 4 points. Local travel between sites may also be required.
- Must have at least one-year experience working in a similar capacity at another job.
- Experience in construction a plus
- Basic Computer Skills: Email, Texting, etc.
- Plumbing short of licensed trade (able to notice and report problems)
- Electricity short of licensed trade (able to notice and report problems)
- Carpentry short of licensed trade (able to make small repairs)
- Basic Mechanical knowledge (able to assembly of furniture, use of tools, power tools and equipment, small repairs, etc.)
- Custodial Skills: Cleaning, Vacuuming, Floor Care, Floor Care Equipment
- Maintenance Skills: Lite Carpentry, Lite Electrical, Lite Plumbing, Painting, etc.
- Computer proficient
- Professionalism skills
- Flexible scheduling may be required, including weekend or evening hours.
Hourly Rate: $17-18
