Oral Surgeon - Part-time

The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Oral Surgeon to join our Dental team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in surgical procedures, implant placement, sinus lift, and bone grafting. This role requires a commitment to providing exceptional patient care, utilizing advanced medical techniques, training and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for patients.

Part-time:  1-2 days every 2 weeks.

Responsibilities but not limited to:

• Perform surgical procedures with precision and care, including root canal therapy and prosthodontics.
• Extracts infected or otherwise diseased/hopeless teeth.
• Employ state-of-the-art techniques that prioritize minimal invasiveness and maximum patient comfort
• Reviews findings from full mouth periodontal exams to diagnose periodontal disease and design a periodontal treatment plan.
• Mentoring/Teaching/Guidance of Dentists staff.
• Collaborate with dental staff to implement treatment plans and ensure a high standard of care.
• Stay updated on advancements in surgical techniques and dental technologies to provide the best care possible.
• Posses the ability to read and treatment plan implants for surgical guides.
• Completes examination of the patient’s teeth, gums, and surrounding structures using a mouth mirror, dental explorer, periodontal probe, dental instruments, and other diagnostic aids such as dental radiographic images from dental x-rays.
• Clinical findings are entered into the patient's eCW medical record to formulate and carry out the most feasible plan of treatment.

Education/Experience Required:

• Credentials: DDS or DMD degree with a valid New York State license for oral surgery.
• Experience: Proven expertise in oral surgery with a passion for patient-centered care.
• Adaptability: Comfortable with a flexible schedule and willing to travel to Albany weekly.
• Team Player: Committed to collaboration and continuous learning within a trusted practice.

Other Related Skills/Experience:

• Experience working in community-based health care settings is also preferred
• Experience/An understanding of EMRs is helpful.
• The ability to demonstrate teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative.
• Excellent written/oral communication and computer skills are required.
• Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team and clients
