About Us: Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School (BSNBCS) is a K-9 charter school serving over 750 scholars in the historic Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn. Since 2010, we've combined 21st-century learning approaches, project-based instruction, and traditional coursework to prepare students for competitive academic environments and global citizenship.
Position Overview: We seek an experienced Math Instructional Coach to drive instructional excellence across our middle school math program. This role directly supports teacher development and student achievement through systematic coaching, mentoring, and data-driven instruction for grades 6-8.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive coaching cycles for math teachers, including weekly observation-feedback sessions, lesson planning support, and instructional modeling
- Lead data-driven instruction through weekly analysis of student performance metrics with grade-level teams
- Facilitate weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on math curriculum alignment, assessment analysis, and instructional strategies
- Collaborate with Principal and DOI to develop targeted professional development based on teacher and student needs
- Create and maintain instructional resources aligned with Common Core Math Standards and research-based best practices
- Guide implementation of RTI (Response to Intervention) strategies across math classrooms
- Conduct demonstration lessons with pre- and post-analysis to model effective instructional techniques
- Support teachers in developing differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
- Partner with assistant principal in weekly data meetings to track progress toward instructional goals
Required Qualifications:
- Current New York State Teacher Certification in Elementary, Middle School, or Special Education
- 5 years of middle school math teaching experience (grades 6-8)
- 1-3 years of proven success coaching teachers in a professional setting
- Demonstrated track record of driving student achievement in NYC District or Charter Schools
- Deep understanding of Common Core Math Standards and progressive math pedagogy
- Completed fingerprint clearance through IdentoGo prior to start date
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or related field
- Experience with inquiry-based and project-based learning
- Training in cognitive coaching or similar coaching frameworks
- Bilingual skills a plus

Work Schedule: Full-time, 12-month position following the academic calendar Regular work hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM with some flexibility required
Location: Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood, Brooklyn, NY Accessible by public transportation
