The primary function of the Occupational Therapist is to plan, organize, develop, and direct Occupational Therapy Services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

Job Duties
- Assists in developing occupational therapy plans for individual residents in coordination and conjunction with the resident assessment (MDS).
- Reviews the occupational therapy requirements of each resident admitted to the facility and assists the attending physician in planning for the resident's care.
- Interviews resident to determine type of treatment and schedule therapy.
- Selects rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on medical and social history of residents.
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs occupational therapy, as well as its programs and activities.
- Develops and maintains occupational therapy standards.
- Interprets occupational therapy policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc.
- Determines the staffing needs of the occupational therapy department necessary to meet the needs of the residents.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Must possess a current Pennsylvania Occupational Therapist license.
- Must have a minimum of two years experience in a therapist capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility. Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative therapy practices.
