JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Position is responsible to plan, coordinate, and direct land surveying, civil engineering, and / or utility locating projects. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor will lead and oversee designated projects, striving to complete projects within agreed upon budgets and timelines. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor performs and / or coordinates all aspects of land surveying, both in the field and in the office, including preparing crews for field duties, analyzing data and performing research to make boundary determinations, performing survey and construction staking calculations, reviewing and adjusting survey data, and preparing final client deliverables. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor is responsible for establishing and maintaining friendly, professional relationships with project managers during course of work on a project and must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor will be the direct supervisor to field party chiefs and land survey technicians, providing midterm and annual reviews. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor will monitor employee productivity by providing useful feedback. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor will implement and enforce company procedures and policies. The Supervising Senior Land Surveyor will assist in resolving subordinates’ issues and disputes. Additional responsibilities include mentoring, supporting, and coach growth and improvement in the surveying capabilities of junior staff, and special projects as directed by supervising manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the Land Survey Operations department manager and direct supervisor to land survey staff
- Complete midterm and annual review
Set performance goals that comply with the organization’s plans and visions
Project Management, including oversight, direction and support of field and office work associated with Topographic, Boundary, A.L.T.A., Anchor Bolt, Construction Staking and Civil Engineering projects
Prepare Survey and Underground Utility Locating client deliverables and ensure project management and QA / QC processes have been completed prior to deliverable going to the next stage of the project
Build and enhance Bedrock’s brand reputation and client relations
Proactively communicate relative workload to Operations Manager and plan work to attempt to balance existing workload.
Professionally interact over the phone, via email, and in-person with all Bedrock clients, documenting all project notes in the Ajera project management system
Continually upgrade your Project Management and professional skillset through company-provided training and other outside learning opportunities
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform special projects upon request.
2. Monitor phone calls and e-mails, and respond within 24 hours.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

FORMAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Education : Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
Experience : Minimum of 5 years of Land Survey experience preferred
Certifications and Licenses :
Required : PLS in the state of California, or PLS in another state while obtaining PLS in CA within 12 months of hire
Preferred : None

Work is primarily performed indoors in an office environment, with occasional work outdoors as site visits or field work is required
