The Position
The Head of Purchasing & Receiving is responsible for ordering all inventory for sourcing and ordering products, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring that all received goods are accurately accounted for and properly recorded. The Head of Purchasing & Receiving must have a keen eye for accuracy, budget management, and supply chain logistics. The Head of Purchasing & Receiving reports to the Inventory Manager.

- Maintain optimal stock levels by analyzing sales trends, seasonal demand, and historical usage.
- Work closely with Yard Supervisors, Lead CSR, Turf & Hardscape Lead, Stocking & Facing Clerks, and Inventory Manager to establish upcoming inventory needs.
- Generate and manage purchase orders (POs) based on store needs, supplier lead times, and budget constraints, and send to Logistics Coordinator for scheduling transportation.
- Monitor and manage inventory turnover, ensuring efficient purchasing to avoid stock shortages or overages.
- Monitor designated purchasing budget and ensure that all purchases fall within the established budgetary constraints.
- Oversee all incoming shipments, ensuring proper handling and verification as soon as product is received on site.
- Supervise the receiving team to ensure inventory is accurately counted, inspected for quality, and properly recorded in the system.
- Address and resolve discrepancies such as short shipments, damaged goods, or incorrect deliveries with suppliers.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all purchases, shipments, and inventory adjustments.
- Assist in periodic inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate records.
- Monitor purchase orders still open past expiration date and follow up with vendors on order status.
- At least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word) and Epicor BizTrack
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to lift and handle products up to 50 lbs and work with materials of varied shapes and sizes
- Team-oriented mindset and a proactive, problem-solving approach

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field; OR
- Certification in logistics or supply chain and minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or supply chain management, or related role; OR
- 4 years of recent experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or supply chain management, or related role.
