Our Client is seeking to contract with a highly motivated Supplier Procurement Engineer (SPE) to support the team. This individual is responsible for oversight, management, and technical integration ofthe client's Engineer-Procurement-Construction (EPC) partner’s procurements of heavy industrial components and equipment, ensuring the client’s requirements and interests are met, and appropriately flowed down to the EPC’s suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- The SPE acts in a project management capacity for EPC procurement performance management and oversight.
- The SPE will apply classic project management tools to oversee EPC Procurements, including cost, schedule, and submittal technical oversight,
- Key collaborator with internal technical and commercial teams to ensure fidelity to contract and technical direction with EPC.
- Review EPC specifications, bid packages, and bid assessments to ensure client's interests are appropriately considered.
- Provide oversight and coordination of EPC procurement schedule, to ensure EPC procurements awards are on track,
- Provide oversight of EPC procurement delivery, working with the contract administrator to ensure timely delivery of materials, data, and other deliverables.
- Facilitate technical reviews of EPC procurements by identifying and engaging the appropriate client's technical resources, and driving resolution to the client's technical comments with the EPC procurement team.
- Manage technical interfaces between the EPC procurement team and the client's technical team.
- Provide support to contract administration and commercial activities as needed to implement projects.
- Manage technical deliverable submittal process between EPC and client's Team.
- Maintain awareness of EPC’s technical capabilities, organization changes, and relationships to ensure positive feedback to clients.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Technical degree preferably in mechanical, electrical, chemical, nuclear, systems, or civil engineering required.
- 10-20 years of experience in supplier oversight is required.
- PMP certification preferred or equivalent training.
- Prefer 3-5 years of manufacturing oversight in either a fabrication or heavy industrial environment.
- Understanding of fabrication travelers, welding, and similar manufacturing processes, and implementation of quality programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience defining heavy industrial equipment and component supplier work scope to include development of SOWs, and RFPs and providing direction and oversight of supplier projects required.
- Demonstrated skills in the management of heavy industrial suppliers in design and manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated skills in supporting contractual/commercial aspects of customer/supplier relationships.
- Previous experience in technical interface with engineering groups for review and input to supplier activities.
- Required experience with project controls and organization along with tools and processes to support the same.
- A broad understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and nuclear engineering disciplines and how they interrelate is important.
