Overview

Provides direct and indirect patient care to implement treatment programs in response to physician referrals and in accordance with a plan of care jointly developed. The speech therapist's scope of practice includes assessment and training in the following areas: aphasia, aprizia, dysarthria, cognitive impairment, voice disorders including laryngectomy, tracheostomy, ventilator dependent patients, and dysphasia.

Provides community education in conjunction with hospital education programs. Ability to correctly identify problems and develop a treatment plan at conclusion of the initial evaluation. Ability to keep abreast of changing technology. Adequate computer skills to achieve accurate billing and documentation. Professional demeanor and appearance. Ability to teach patient and/or caregiver appropriate therapeutic compensatory strategies. Ability to respond to Specific Task Requests. Demonstrates Clinical Competence
