Work Schedule:

243-day contract which includes both day and night activities as a normal expectation of the position.

POSITION SUMMARY

Plan, direct, or coordinate the academic, administrative, or auxiliary activities of a high school.

Essential Functions
  • Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems.
  • Counsel and provide guidance to students regarding personal, academic, vocational, or behavioral issues.
  • Plan and lead professional development activities for teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Prepare and submit budget requests and recommendations, or grant proposals to solicit program funding.
  • Prepare, maintain, or oversee the preparation and maintenance of attendance, activity, planning, or personnel reports and records.
  • Recommend personnel actions related to programs and services.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of teachers, administrators, and support staff at schools, public agencies, and institutions.
  • Participate in special education-related activities such as attending meetings and providing support to special educators throughout the district.
  • Organize and direct committees of specialists, volunteers, and staff to provide technical and advisory assistance for programs.
  • Direct and coordinate school maintenance services and the use of school facilities.
  • Create orientation activities for students transitioning from the elementary to middle school level or middle school to the high school level.
  • Coordinate and direct extracurricular activities and programs such as after-school events and athletic contests.
  • Collaborate with coordinators/directors to evaluate teachers/paraprofessionals under their respective programs.
  • Communicate with directors/coordinators to provide input toward evaluations of staff not directly evaluated by the principal.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement a shared vision and mission.
  • Collect and use data to identify goals, assess organizational effectiveness, and promote organizational learning.
  • Create and implement plans to achieve goals.
  • Promote continuous and sustainable improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and revise plans.
  • Nurture and sustain a culture of collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations.
  • Ensure a comprehensive, rigorous, and coherent curricular program is implemented.
  • Create a personalized and motivating learning environment for students.
  • Supervise instruction.
  • Develop assessment and accountability systems to monitor student progress.
  • Develop the instructional and leadership capacity of staff.
  • Maximize time spent on quality instruction.
  • Promote the use of the most effective and appropriate technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of the instructional program.
  • Monitor and evaluate the management and operational systems.
  • Obtain, allocate, align, and efficiently utilize human, fiscal, and technological resources.
  • Promote and protect the welfare and safety of students and staff.
  • Develop the capacity for distributive leadership.
  • Ensure teacher and organizational time is focused to support quality instruction and student learning.
  • Collect and analyze data and information pertinent to the educational environment.
  • Promote understanding, appreciation, and use of the communities' diverse cultural, social, and intellectual resources.
  • Build and sustain positive and productive relationships with families, caregivers, and community partners.
  • Ensure a system of accountability for every student's academic and social success.
  • Model principles of self-awareness. reflective practice, transparency, and ethical behavior.
  • Safeguard the values of democracy, equity, and diversity.
  • Consider and evaluate the potential moral and legal consequences of decision-making.
  • Promote social justice and ensure that individual student needs inform all aspects of schooling.
  • Advocate for children, families, and caregivers.
  • Act to influence local, district, state, and national decisions affecting student learning.
  • Assess, analyze, and anticipate emerging trends and initiatives in order to adapt leadership strategies.
  • Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.
  • Adhere to all policies of the District.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.


SKILLS & ABILITIES


Education:
Master's Degree Required, Field of Study: Education

Experience: Prior experience as a building administrator preferred.

Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

Certifications & Licenses: Current Arkansas teaching license as a building administrator.


Other Requirements: 1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.

2. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, staff, and the general public.
