What are the responsibilities and job description for the Startup Controller (NYC) position at Beech Valley Solutions?
Beech Valley has a startup client in NYC that is seeking a Controller to launch their accounting operations. This role will report to the CFO. Remote work is an option but the Controller will preferably be within commuting distance of NYC. This is a full-time, direct hire (w-2) or contract-to-hire opportunity.
Role & Requirements of Controller:
- Auditing/accounting background with experience supporting sales and trading OR commodities import businesses
- CPA preferred
- QuickBooks and Power BI ideal - their CRM is is Zoho with a financial module that is similar to QB and a Power BI analytics package
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills needed - including experience designing and implementing accounting flows and management reporting
- Clear and confident communicator with senior management, a strong team player, willing to dive in and get the work done
- Initial responsibilities will be system setup and testing, followed by establishment of ongoing business procedures, controls and management reporting (e.g. develop chart of accounts, draft recons, process & procedures), as well as to develop and monitor cash flow/burn rate, forecasting
- As company grows, the Controller will lead hiring of additional accounting personnel
