Health and Safety Technician
The Health and Safety Technician ensures Health & Safety compliance at Befesa Zinc Metal. This role focuses on conduction safety inspections, observations, and working with operations and maintenance to ensure that our facility meets and exceeds regulatory standards. Additionally, the Safety Technician plays a key role in Health by assisting with Industrial Hygiene sampling. This is an entry level safety role that offers growth and learning opportunities for t hose with a proactive attitude and a commitment to making a positive impact.
Job Responsibilities:
· Performs daily tasks directed by the Health & Safety Manager.
· Perform safety inspections for LOTO, Confined Space, Permits, etc.
· Supports operations and maintenance personnel with any safety related concerns or needs.
· Respond to on call safety issues.
· Log all inspection and observation finds into the site's safety management software.
·Work with the Industrial Specialists to complete sampling each quarter.
· Follow all applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures.
· Assist in maintaining all OSHA regulations.
·Participate on the Site Emergency Response Team, emergency response planning and drills.
Basic Qualifications:
· A high school diploma or equivalent.
·At least 1 year of experience in an industrial, construction, or similar position.
· Basic knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., 29 CFR 1910)
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong problem solving skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong work ethic and desire for continual self-improvement.
· Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and work outside in challenging weather conditions.
·Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.
·Capable of climbing elevated spaces.
·Willingness to spend most of your time in the field (non-office environment).
· Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, respirator, protective clothing, and gloves.
Preferred Qualifications:
· OSHA Certifications (preferred, but not required).
· Familiarity with site safety policies and procedures.
· Emergency response experience with the ability to join the Site Emergency Response Team.
