What are the responsibilities and job description for the PRN Pediatric Nurse position at Behaven Kids?
Job Summary: This position is designed for a skilled healthcare professional who can provide nursing care on an as-needed basis, ensuring the health and safety of children in our care. The PRN Nurse will be responsible for administering basic medical care, responding to health emergencies, and providing health education to staff and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to health emergencies, including injuries, allergic reactions, or other medical incidents.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for children, including incident reports, treatment logs, and medication administration.
- Health Education: Educate staff on best practices for preventing illness and injury, and provide training on emergency procedures and health management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with parents, caregivers, and the childcare team to address any medical needs or concerns.
- Compliance: Ensure that the facility maintains compliance with health and safety regulations, licensing requirements, and infection control protocols.
- Medication Management: Implement a program to comply with Nebraska’s Medication laws. This could include overseeing the proper storage, directing individuals in the administration of medication, evaluating and documenting appropriate individuals’ competency in administration of medications for specified recipients, documenting written directions to such individuals, and monitoring adherence to such directions of administration of medications as prescribed for children in care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Valid nursing degree (LPN, RN, or similar) from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current, active nursing license in Nebraska.
- Experience: Previous pediatric nursing or childcare health experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of childhood illnesses, common medical conditions, and healthcare practices.
- Familiarity with CPR and first aid certification.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
