Position Purpose

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety and security of BHA clients while transporting them to and from school by performing the following duties including but not limited to:

ALL DRIVER AIDE JOBS ARE PART TIME SPLIT SHIFT; 20-25 HOURS PER WEEK

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY SPLIT SHIFT - 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM AND 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Professional Skills / Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow safety rules as students board and exit van or cross streets near stops.
  • Maintain order among pupils during trips to ensure safety.
  • Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled locations, following strict time schedules.
  • Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, or fares received.
  • Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures.
  • Keep interiors clean for passengers.

Other Duties

  • Cleaning/Inspecting vehicle.
  • Ensuring gas is in the vehicle.
  • Expected to attend various meetings.
  • Will perform other relevant duties as deemed appropriate by BHA

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, experience, training and specific skills to fulfill the primary responsibilities and duties of the job):

Education and Experience:

  • High School/GED required.
  • 1-4 years’ experience as a aide; with developmentally disabled children and/or adults are preferred

Training and Specific Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high performing team environment under strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-directed individual who is a strong leader
  • Ability to drive when in the field.
  • Must satisfactorily complete all required trainings.
  • Be able to pass all background checks, which may include physical, drug screening and licensure.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Follow instructions and responds to management direction; keeps commitments; is consistently at work on time; completes tasks on time
  • Observe safety and security procedures; determines appropriate actions beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe condition; uses equipment and materials properly
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations; responds promptly to client needs
  • Can maintain confidentiality, displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Confers with the Administrative or Fleet Manager on major decisions relating to change in scope or contractual obligations of program.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
